FABBBirmingham Event

Hello my lovelies!

Quite recently I took a little trip to Birmingham as I was excitedly invited to attend FABBBirmingham, an event for Fashion and Beauty Bloggers. I was super excited (even though I'm more of a lifestyle blogger) and boy am I glad I went! I was rather nervous about attending the event as it was my first blogger event however everyone was lovely and it was a super stress free experience.

Not only were there some lovely bloggers in attendance, but also some rather wonderful brands! Here are just a few of my favourites:
Anovia

The event was hosted at Alfie Bird's, The Custard Factory in Birmingham by the lovely Tor and Ray who have the most fabulous blogs so please do hop on over. Admittedly I was a little sceptical about just how small the space appeared as I don't handle being crowded in small spaces very well however the rooms were surprisingly spacious and brands were spread across two floors. It was an excellent choice of host and I must applaud the girls on their excellent taste.

My absolute highlight is definitely summed up in this picture! I think these were the 3rd table I came to anf boy oh boy did I love them. Crystal Clear were offering free facial treatment using ground breaking technology in the world of skin care. I had half of my face treated and it faded my skin pigmentation and plumped up the skin making it look fresh and bright, it was very easy to see the difference in the two sides of my face.

This lip gloss has to be my biggest let down however as I have found it to be super sticky. Although the colours are lovely and the first few times I used it I found it wearable by the third use I was fed up of my hair getting stuck which is really rather upsetting. On the whole though, the other products on show with StageLine UK and Mistair were rather fascinating and I must thank them for the fake blood just in time for Halloween.

However the opposite can be said of the Light Me Up Lip gloss from MeMeMe Cosmetics which I have been using on an almost daily basis. The LED light and mirror make it super easy to apply, it's very light wearing, the colour choice is simply fabulous and there is no stickiness.

I have definitely added a rather large amount of their products to my Christmas list after seeing the wonderful spread they produced at the event.

Bodhi & Birch you fabulous, delicious, incredible people! I am in love with every single thing that was on display as it all smelled so amazing. I was particularly fond of the Chai body lotion (I cannot remember the full name of it for the life of me though D;) and it was so great to have the wonderful Elijah Choo to take care of us.

The most wonderful thing about blogger events is that there are so many lovely people who are with you. I took Meg who, and she'll admit to this herself, is rather clueless about fashion and beauty brands and wondered why on earth she'd agreed to come along. Yet she and I both had an absolute blast and it was a joy to share the experience with Charlotte of blackandwhitesheeps, someone we both know from uni and had no idea we would bump in to! Also, nearly all of these fabulous photos were taken by Meg so props to you girl!

A huge thank you to all of the brands and people who hosted and came along to the event to treat us. You did an excellent job and I look forward to attending more FABB events in the future

Bacofoil Student Cook of the Year 2014

Hello my lovelies!

Are you a Student at a UK university? Do you cook? Would you like the chance to win £1,000 of groceries? Keep reading!

Rather recently a lovely lady got in touch with me about a competition for students and being a student myself, naturally, I was intrigued to know more. Before I knew it, I'd been introduced to an absolutely fabulous project that's been launched by Bacofoil to find the Student Cook of the Year! Want to know more? Ah splendid! Because I'm about to tell all...

Bacofoil has launched its first ever competition to find the UK's finest student cook because, as I'm sure you may know, not all students live off a bland palette of beans on toast. There are far more lavish plates being concocted in student kitchens these days and Bacofoil want to know what you've been creating that tastes so great!

Melissa Dickinson, marketing manager at Bacofoil, said, “We’ve been producing foil in the UK for over 50 years and university life has changed a lot over that time. However, something that doesn’t change is that university is often the first place young people start to buy and cook their own food properly. We know that younger cooks tend to experiment more with equipment and techniques so we thought that, as a large producer of baking, roasting and food storage products, launching a competition like this just made sense!” And I simply have to agree!

If you'd like to enter the competition, you've got until the 31st December 2014 to get your entry in. All you have to do is post a picture of your meal on Facebook or Twitter along with the name of the dish and #BacofoilStudentCook (Yes, it really is that simple!) Your entry will be judged on the presentation skills and the creativity of your dish's name. So what are you waiting for?

The exciting part is what happens next... The finalists will be invited along to a high-pressure culinary contest in front of some really wonderful judges. This year the judges are: celebrity chef and author Sam Stern, Masterchef Winner Steven Wallis, Bacofoil Marketing Manager Melissa Dickinson and Lulu Grimes, Deputy Editor at Olive Magazine. Sam said "Students can be amazing in the kitchen and should definitely not be underestimated. The time has passed when baked beans ruled the student kitchen."

The winning cook will then be chosen at Cactus Kitchens in London and will receive a grand prize of £1,000 worth of groceries.

For more information go to www.bacofoil.co.uk or email student.cook@bacofoil.co.uk

Follow the pages on facebook here and twitter here

Don't forget to share this competition with all your friends and, if you'd like to, comment below if you think you're going to enter!

Best of luck to you all!

#EverydayIssues - Meeting New People

Hello my lovelies!

A little while ago I mentioned a project titled everyday issues which I'll be using to discuss the little (and large) things in life that we all struggle to cope with. I think it's about time to share with you some of the things I've been writing about. I give you the first post addressing an everyday issue I know a lot of you guys will be worrying about as the new academic year rolls in. I know many of you will have started at a new school or will soon be starting college or university and a big part of these changes is the introduction of new people in to your life.

We meet new people every single day of our lives, most of the time they are in the background - people who pass us on the street or who are briefly in the same room as us - but every once in a while we find ourselves in a situation where we know absolutely no-one but we're expected to talk to them. For people who suffer with anxiety, meeting new people in a situation where you need to talk to strangers can be incredibly stressful yet for others it's something that comes naturally.

Everyone gets scared or nervous, it's not something we should be ashamed of. Of course you're going to be wary, you don't know these people and they don't know you. What if they're more intelligent? What if you stumble over your words and feel embarrassed? What if they think they're better than you? The questions run through your mind, making you panic. But is it really all that scary? You should be able to answer every single one of those questions with 'So what?'. So what if you trip over walking to them? You can laugh it off. So what if you're not funny to them? At least you gave it a go.

The one thing to always remember is that you should never change your personality just to please the other person. Be yourself. They're probably just as nervous as you are.

You need to feel confident yet cautious, saying the wrong thing might offend and then you'll be remembered for all the wrong reasons. You want to impress someone by being yourself because no-one can fault you for just being you. Certain situations do call for certain behaviours however. A strong handshake is always a good approach when meeting someone new in a formal situation whether that's at a formal event like a gala or at a job interview but at a house party or in class a simple 'Hi, I'm ---' can be enough to start a beautiful friendship.

Have you ever been in a situation where you've been uncomfortable or unsure because you don't know anyone? Share in the comments your story or if you're shy, send me an email. Just because it's a small issue, doesn't mean it's not something that can be worked on or talked about!

Remember to comment, like, +1, share, subscribe, etc. You can find all of my social media links here.

Love you all,
